Halaman Baru

Nah supaya mereka gak bingung jadi saya bakal pakai dua bahasa aja (kalau istilah dalam bahasa Venezuela nya: dual language) *halahh..

Jadi, post ini sekaligus tanda halaman baru yah...
Welcome to Tigerlily's Book - new edition ;)

Restaurant Review: Mr Park

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Another place that we've tried for a quick lunch was at Mr.Park in Grand Indonesia. Korean food is rather new to me, and because I've learned since a long time ago that I don't go along well with kimchi so I am still in the process of trying on different Korean restaurants regardless of my love and hate relationship with kimchi.

I mostly almost never like kimchi served in Korean restaurant EXCEPT in this one. The kimchi side dish in Mr Park is somewhat a little bit different than what I've tasted and I kinda liked this one. Maybe because many people said that Mr Park's food are already catered to local taste so the kimchi here is more acceptable for my tounge. Well, I'm not sure if that's true but at least I think so ;p

So anyway, it was a quick lunch and here's what we ordered:

 Chicken Gochujang Bento Set

 Chicken Ramyoen

I was a little bit confused with the menu since I haven't tried that many Korean dishes before, and I was not really that hungry so I opted for the Chicken Ramyoen instead that looks quite spicy and tasty from the picture on the menu. Ramyoen is Korean noodles and as a noodle lover so of course I must try that ;)

FYI, the counter at Grand Indonesia was located in the food court area so it's not a restaurant but more like a small counter instead. The menu is available on the cashier counter (where we have to put our orders in) and there were also several realistic-looking display of food from the menu (just like the fake food display in front of Japanese restaurants). Hubby K chose his order from looking at these food display. He chose the Chicken Gochujang Bento set which looks satisfying in size.

The food turned up just like the ones in the photos and the portion were rather big compared to the price so it was satisfying for us. Again, I'm sorry for the lack of details here because I lost all the recipes that I've been collecting so I didn't know the exact price of the food. But according to the Facebook page, the Chicken Gochujang Bento set is IDR 39,091,- and the Chicken Ramyoen that I ordered is IDR 33,638,-

Overall, the taste is quite good and the portion is rather large and it comes with many assortment of side dish (as customary in Korean tradition). The only concern was on the bento set where my husband wishes for a larger portion of the rice to balance the many dishes on the bento box, LOL.

How about you? Have you tried Mr Park or any Korean restaurant yet?

Restaurant Review: Little Taiwan

Sunday, March 9, 2014

I've been collecting food photos almost every time I eat in a restaurant. I love reading restaurant reviews so I always have a plan somewhere in my head to someday review the restaurants I've been to. And that's why I always took photos and save the receipts. But alas, I lost all the receipts that I've been collecting. It got lost somewhere between the hectic process of moving out to our new place, so there are only pictures left.

So this post is gonna be like a quick overall review with no price details, only a glimpse of the food photos and the experience I've had during my time at the restaurant. There will also be several similar posts like this one in the near future ;)

Firs up, is the Little Taiwan restaurant, located in Kota Kasablanka Lower Ground floor. I don't think I've tried any Taiwanese food before so when I was there with hubby K after attending an event I suggested to try the Little Taiwan instead when I saw their sign.

The atmosphere was friendly, like a good family restaurant. The decor and seating area was quite nice with appetizing food photos on the wall that you can order from the menu.

(photo sourced from Little Taiwan Indonesia FB Page)

The menu have a medium number of options to choose from, after looking at the pictures and discussing with the waitress I finally picked the Spicy Hot Ramen and hubby K chose (if I'm not mistaken) the Spicy Dumpling Noodle.

 Spicy Hot Ramen

 Spicy Dumpling Noodle

We ordered just ordinary drinks which I actually forgot, I think it was only Iced Tea and the left one on the picture is their signature Red Tea drink.

I know I lost the receipt but if I'm not mistaken the price starts at IDR 30.000 and above (for the food menu) and the drinks are of course less than that. The service was good and the waiter and waiters know the menu really well. As for the taste, the dumpling noodle was pretty good but the Spicy Hot Ramen is just so-so in my opinion. Maybe because I've tried countless spicy ramen in many places so I just think that this one is pretty mediocre compared to other places I've tried.

The drinks are fresh and quench our thirsts very well. I also like the presentation of the food and drinks. Overall, I think this is a nice restaurant but I probably would stick to Chinese / Japanese restaurant instead (based on my personal reference).

Food Diary

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

I wanted to re-live the food diary posts that I had on this blog a couple years ago and I even saved several photos on my phone (mostly when we ate outside). The last time I did this kind of post was back on September 2012 (what??!! it's been so long). So without further ado, here are some of the food that me / we ate recently :

 Kenny Roger's Roasters
(love the beans!)

Ramen and Fruit-infused Ice Tea at Little Taiwan (so-so)

Yummy sandwich which I forgot where I bought it from

Danish style Fish n Chips at Fish n Co. (Yum!)

Some sweet snack from Le Bridge Resto at Ancol Beach

Super yummy Kaya Toast & White Coffee Freeze at Old Town White Coffee

My weekly dose of Starbucks! Oh yeah.

Good 'ol American fried chicken, curly fries, and waffle with vanilla ice cream from A&W
Junk food galore.

I actually still have several food photos left on my phone but I am too sleepy right now so I'd just end the post here and will continue posting my food diary photos later on.

I hope these food photos won't make you hungry ;p

[Review] : Candle-Lite Juicy Black Cherries Candle

Monday, February 17, 2014

One of my recent obsession is scented candles. A few years ago it was hard to find scented candles here in Jakarta, but nowadays they are getting easier to find (yay!). And that started my obsession ;)
Here is a re-published post from my other blog Two Thousand Things about one of my candle reviews. Hope you enjoy it!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love trying to find sweet-smelling candles in the market because they are not easy to find here in my country. We don't really have much options regarding scented candles here. We don't even have a Bath & Body Works store (which I dream of getting their big candles of!). So every time I saw a scented candle with a proper packaging (and proper price ;p) I would mostly gonna buy it.

Now I don't have that many scented-candle collection yet in my home but maybe someday I'll show you. But for now, here is one of my recent candle purchase:

Juicy Black Cherries candle from Candle-Lite. I got this from Ace Hardware where I mostly buy my candles from. This was around $3 or IDR 40,000-ish (if I'm not mistaken), and it comes in a 3.5 oz glass jar with plastic lid. The plastic lid has a small hole in it so that we can smell the candle inside.

This is the first time I tried Candle-Lite brand. I decided to try with this one because this smells good in the store. It smells like bubblegum to me, with a lot of sweet infusion from the black cherry aroma. Very sweet and a little bit uplifting, which I imagine would be nice for a family room or to accompany me working ;)

The color of the candle is gorgeous too, and this is one of the less expensive candle options in Ace Hardware ;p There are other scents from Candle-Lite that I also like at the store, so maybe I'll snatch it up later on.. Ace Hardware also has other brands such as the popular Yankee Candles which I haven't tried to burn yet because I only bought the small ones without containers, so I'm still looking for some kind of a container where I can keep it after I burn it to help the scent stays longer on the candle.

This Candle-Lite Juicy Black Cherries is a lovely one and have a long burning time. I tried burning it for several hours each day, for two days straight, and it seems that it didn't reduced much, so this certainly has a longer burning time compared to common candles. It also burns evenly and solidifies evenly as well. So there's no deep hole under the wick (in the middle of the candle) after you burn it, unlike most common candles out there ;p

So that's what I like about Candle-Lite candles. They will keep an even shape after you burn them for hours. The scent is not that strong though, unless you burn it for hours and close the room. The scent is more like staying in the background. Overall, this candle is quite nice and I would buy it again in another scent ;)
