[Imaginary]: Room Decorator

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

I have two imaginary play series in this blog: the Party Planner and the Room Decorator, both are my hobby and passion beside fashion and traveling. In this series I pretend to be either a party planner or an interior designer/decorator. Today I would play a Room Decorator, and here's the scheme:

Client :
Family of 6 :
- Husband & Wife
- 2 Daughters ( 1 teenage & 1 toddler)
- 1 Son (tween age)
- 1 Grandma

Room Requirements :
- at least 3 bathroom (1 en-suite in master bedroom)
- 1 craft room for grandma
- a separate breakfast area
- a sunny living room
- a laundry room

Preferred Style :
Cottage / Country style for public area and master bedroom
Girly Chic for the teenage daughter's room
Dreamy for the little kids rooms
--------------------------------------------------------

And here are my suggestions...

FIRST FLOOR
The sunny living room:
myhomeideas

 Kitchen at the back area:
pointclickhome
And a separate breakfast area right beside the kitchen counter:
potterybarn
And the Dining Area at the opposite side of the kitchen/breakfast area:
housetohome.co.uk

The Teenage daughter's bedroom:
Teenage Daughter's Bathroom (this is also a guest bathroom):
countryliving

Grandma's craft room, right next to the above bathroom:

UPSTAIRS
The Master bedroom:
...with en-suite bathroom:

The Tween Boy's bedroom:

and the toddler daughter's bedroom:

The little kids shared bathroom:

BASEMENT:
Grandma's Bedroom:
Grandma's tiny bathroom:

The Laundry Room right next to the tiny bathroom:

And my work as an interior decorator is done! All the client's requests are fulfilled and they're happy with my work (or at least this is what happened in my imagination ;p).
And that's the end of our game, i hope you enjoy playing with me ^o^

Restaurant Review: MARCHE

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Last week me and hubs were having dinner at Marche at Plaza Senayan, it's been one of my favorite restaurant since I went there the first time ^o^ I love it's ambience because it's a themed restaurant. It has a very detailed decoration that makes us feel like we were in a European village's market/farm/scenery, well actually it's Switzerland scenery to be exact, complete with Heidi corner! Ha!
The scenery include a 500 year old chalet, a Switzerland ski-lift cabin and many other decorative things that were brought originally from Switzerland!

Since I basically love decoration so I always find myself amused with themed places such as themed restaurant, themed hotel, etc.. Like that one time when I was visiting Genting highland in Malaysia, the place was like a magic tour to me, it was fully decorated with fun details, complete with indoor theme parks and decorative details in every nooks and cranny. That's what I loved, an attention to details! And Marche is just like that, the decoration detail fills every corner, even on those corners where you probably won't notice.

There are several food stalls inside the restaurant that are decorated like a village market stall. We would be given a card at the entrance which we will then use to "order" food & drinks from the stalls. We can browse the stalls and choose which food we want to eat, then we give the card to the person attending the stall so that our card can be stamped. And then when we finished eating, we would give the stamped card to the cashier and they will sums up the fees based on the stamps and we can pay the totals. Don't worry, the food & drinks price are on every stalls so you won't get blindly cheated ^o^ The price range from medium affordable (say.. IDR 35k - 45k for chicken and pizza) to IDR 65k - 90k and up for other food such as seafood or rosti with side dish. The food were excellent and the ingredients are all fresh!

My favorite stall is the bakery/pastry stall near the entrance, because it has a very strong "market" feels, I feel like I'm in a local European market, picking breads and sweets to bring back to my hotel ^o^
There are many dining area that you can freely choose. I love the cabin and log style dining area, it feels very original. You can also take your seat inside the ski-lift! There's also a huge screen that depicts a non-stop movie about Switzerland scenery (which is breathtaking, by the way). Oh and there's a "waterfall" at the corner near the bathroom! And the bathroom itself is fully decorated, feels like you're in snow ski cabin. There's also a changing pad for babies inside the bathroom, thumbs up for that (although I also saw a tiny little bug inside the cubicle, whoops!).

This time we chose to sit at the "dairy farm wooden cabin", complete with big cow head and cow printed pillowcases! As a cow print lover I could just die there because a lot of the items are all cow-printed or cow-shaped which were so friggin cute!

a cow! right beside our table's wall! :D
It feels like we were dining in a farmer's cabin in the green mountain of Switzerland where they shoot the Sound Of Music! Haha okay, I imagine too much... ;p But every time i dine there I always feel like I'm not in Plaza Senayan anymore ;p Hubs loved it too!

Oh I also went to another themed restaurant called Nanny's Pavilion where the decorative theme is around a "bathroom/powder room". If you're curious you can check it in my fashion blog here. There's also a giveaway currently going on there ^__^

Short getaway.. [Curug Cilember, Puncak]

Monday, December 6, 2010

Last weekend me and the whole family had a short getaway to Puncak. It's only 1.5 hour drive from Jakarta and it's a mountainous area so it has a colder climate which is great because it's really different from the staggering hot Jakarta climate.

I came from a really big family from my mother's side and we used to gather around and have vacations together. We traveled together, sometimes by chartering a big bus, we went to many road trips, Java overland and even Sumatra. So traveling is in our blood. This mini getaway is one of the example. And we already planned to go to Belitung on January 2011. Can't wait to take hubby there because he never been to Bangka or Belitung before.

So anyway here are some photos from our short trip to Puncak. We rent a big villa in the middle of a small village and went to Curug Cilember which is a waterfall, and we also walk around the surrounding village in the morning, walking through paddy fields, got our feet wet by playing in a small stream that leads to a big rocky river, we saw a mini zoo with baboons, ostrich, big eagle and talking birds! All in all, we have a really great time!

(all photos above are by hubby K's instagram)

the view from our villa

Curug Cilember ( = Cilember waterfall)

Cilember waterfall actually has 7 waterfalls, one is on higher ground than the other. This one that we visited is the waterfall number 7, it's stands on the lowest ground than the other waterfalls so if we want to see waterfall number 6 or 5 that means we have to climb higher and higher. The track is actually easy to walk on, the view along the track is fantastic with skinny tall trees surrounding us, it really feels like we're on a jungle. There's also camping ground provided on the lower area.

The track through the jungle to reach the waterfall number 7
look at that super tall trees!! So ancient!

A walk through the paddy field near our villa in the morning:

So how bout you? Where did you go last weekend? any fun stories?

Recent Purchases

Thursday, December 2, 2010

I recently went to the local fabric market called "Pasar Cipadu". It's not too far from my house so I went there with my mom and my cousin. Mom wanted to buy a bed sheet set, complete with bed cover for a wedding present while me and my cousin were looking for some pillow covers. Pasar Cipadu is THE place if you want to look for pillow covers, bed sheets, curtains, fabrics, etc.. The price are very affordable. I bought these two towels for me and hubby for only IDR 45.000 each!! With the same terry cloth fabric this towel would sell for IDR 75.000 at the dept store, so of course I bought two right away ;)
the deep blue is for hubby and the lighter blue is for me. I like the color of my towel, it reminds me of the ocean.

I also were looking for some pillow covers for my decorative pillow. And I found these shabby chic ones for only IDR 10.000 each (wait, or was it IDR 15.000??? I totally forgot, sorry.. but it's between that range, I swear.)
I like shabby chic decor theme, do you love it too? which one do you like?

There were also fluffy pillows for less than IDR 50.000, with the same quality as the branded pillows in the dept store that usually sell for IDR 75.000 and up! I should've bought those pillows!
Everything is so cheap there, I wanna go there again real soon ^o^
