Yuri's list of Top Ten World's Best Hotel Bathroom With A View

Saturday, July 31, 2010

I love to watch those "10 best ....(fill in the blank) in the world" on TV, and then I thought hey, why don't I make those list myself and put it on this blog? Genius, right? (lol).. Anyway, I'm summing up this list from a couple of websites that already has those lists of their own, so I'm just listing up my most favorite best of the best, kinda like that.. ;p

Let's begin with Bathrooms now shall we? I originally intended to make Top 10 Most Unique Public Bathroom because I remember watching an episode of that on TV, but after several hours of browsing i found it hard to find the lists that makes my category, so I skipped it and decided to go with a new category which is Top 10 Best Hotel Bathroom With A View.

You know how hotel rooms must have a good view right? But how bout the bathrooms?
I love to check on the bathroom whenever I stayed at a hotel because to me bathroom is important. And it would be a great bonus point if the bathroom has an excellent view too! So I made this list of my personal favorites. Please note that this list is in random order so the first on the list doesn't mean it's my most favorite, et cetera.. et cetera.. Got it? Good. Now let's begin:

"YURI's list of Top 10 World's Best Hotel Bathroom With A View"

The Outpost Kruger National Park
South Africa

This luxury hotel is perched on a tree within a game reserve in South Africa. It is built on a hillside with a view on 180 ° to the Kruger National Park. Yes, this open bathroom is perched up high so there's no need to worry of any peeping tom.
With an open space that connects to the nature like that, one will feel as free as a bird (speaking of living in a tree too ;p). I bet at night the sounds of the forest and the starry sky will give a great bathing experience too.
The bath tub is unique and the rustic style of this bathroom really match the environment. With a clear wide view from a bird's looking point, this bathroom is one of the best in my list.

The Hotel Cipriani
Venice, Italy

Located on the island Giudecca, which is famous with its wines, this five-star and ultra-rich hotel with it's excellent services and (also) excellent bathrooms are one of my favorite too. The all-marble bathroom looks very inviting and the view it offers...i'm speechless.. You can view the famous Venetian canal as well as the amazing views of the delightful walled Casanova gardens and St Mark’s Square. And those tall windows?? Oh my... take me there please..

The InterContinental Hong Kong
Hong Kong

This is the bathroom of the Presidential Suite, the largest suite in Hong Kong. Who wouldn't want to spend time in this tub relaxing while looking over the well-known beautiful views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. This master bathroom features a rain shower for two, a state of the art Jacuzzi and a separate toilet room complete with remote control, heated toilet seat and front/back washer and dryer features -- and don't forget that spectacular views of Hong Kong's skyline.

The Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay
Oman

Just look at those views! With that big openings surrounding your bath tub who would say No to this?? This bathroom has a spacious, personal environment to offer as view for its guests. The rustic style of the bathroom is a uniqueness itself, the bath tub and the general look of the bathroom offers "back to nature" experience and the views... oh the views...they're just spectacular.

Hufaven Fushi
Maldives, Indian Ocean

Oh how I always wish I could go to Maldives. It's one of my dreams to be able to spend a holiday there with my loved one. Maldives is juts to-die-for.
This bathroom is from the Lagoons Bungalows of the hotel. it sets on a long ovate pier off the island. Yes, it says OFF THE ISLAND. The room also has a plunge pool on your private terrace overlooking the ocean. Well, actually the ocean is right beneath your bungalows!
The massive glass right in front of the bathtub is like a wide screen TV that plays your favorite travel channel where they show you a clear blue sea and bright blue sky ^o^ It's hard to beat that.

The Standard Hotel
New York, USA

Just by looking at the pic above you'll see why this bathroom makes it on my list. It has everything great in it. Great spacious space, great tiles, great wide windows, great tub and great double views! You can see the water view at your left and the city view at your right, both through the massive clear windows. Fascinating! If this picture is taken at daytime, imagine what the view would look like at night time!

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa
Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel stands at the very edge of the Atlantic, surrounded by acres of marine coastal nature reserves. The view from the bathroom is just WOW! Roman style bathroom with a sea and mountain view (I'd like to think of it as Vesuvius mountain ;p) would be enough to make me wants to stay as long as I can in that bath tub.. Just take a relaxing soak and enjoy the scenery.

Rayavadee
Krabi, Thailand

Located on white sand beaches and cinematic limestone cliff-sides, this hotel bathroom offers a stunning view of the cliff sides, the beach and the rest of the island. The lush landscaped gardens are an additional view for that all-out tropical indulgence.
The bathroom itself is really spacious with great lighting, beautiful wood and stone interior and a large couple's bath tub with a massive window in front of it. The bathroom also connected to the room and the private terrace. A tropical paradise of your own..

Tshukudu Bush Lodge
Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa

The windows over the bathroom open onto the grassy plain and rustic safari field, a view so different from what you see in your daily city life. Maybe you can see giraffes grazing on the savannah or maybe a watering hole swarmed with animals.
This bathroom has a sunken bathtub with water-conserving hardware, and a black slate floor. With an open window really close to your bathtub like that you can enjoy the scenery as if you are soaking in a bathtub outside the wall. This is a very private lodge because..errr...your closest human neighbor is nowhere nearby.

Khayangan estate, resorts and villas
Bali, Indonesia

And this last one is from my beloved country, Indonesia. Indonesia also has many places and islands that worth the visit. If you're looking for a holiday in a tropical country then you should consider Indonesia ^__^
Anyway, this bathroom is from a resort villa in Bali. The villa rests on the tip of a hill. Below it are white sands and rolling ocean waves. This bathroom views are very unique and might have the potential of making you wants to stay all day ;p
This bathroom has 2 different views. So while you're sipping champagne while soaking underneath all those flower petals in your bath you'll enjoy the green scenery right outside your window and of the ocean far beneath. And while you're washing your hand or brushing your teeth on the unique sink you'll find the scenery of the dense beds of grass and trees, gently swaying palms, and some paddy fields outside your window. I love the natural style of the stone-infused bathtub and the carved wood sink table. I also love the drapes on the bathtub window. Perfection!

So, that's it! Which one do you like? Or which one did you not like?
Please remember that this is just a personal choice of mine so the list may be subjective to me but I tried to be fair and include different kind of style and views (from ocean views to city views and forest views). So I hope you enjoy my list and feel free to add your favorite hotel bathroom with a view. Give me the link on the comment form if you happened to have a link to the picture.

Anyway, I always wanted to do this kind of lists on my blog and now that I finally did it, I didn't expect it to be a lot of fun! I really enjoy compiling the options and making this post so I might want to do it again in the future, maybe a different list, World Top Ten of something.. ^o^

Thanks for reading!

JUNE's Purchases and Freebies

Friday, July 23, 2010

Okay, this is a very late post, i should've post it in the first week of July but sometimes my schedule is a mess so please forgive me? ^o^

Off we go...
These are last month (JUNE)'s freebies and purchases. Unlike May's purchases post, this month I don't shop a lot, only necessary things. Maybe I want to cover up my guilt because last month I kinda shop a lot so this month I feel like I gotta step down a bit.
Anyway, I don't count the free samples which I got for review purposes though, I only count freebies that I got from souvenirs, goody bags, etc.. So let's start with the freebies, shall we?

FREEBIES:

I got invitation from ROXY to attend their Summer 2010 preview and got this goody bag full of ROXY goodies! All of the stuffs are packed inside the bag at the left picture above while the right picture is what's inside the bag. I got these from the goody bag:
  • ROXY Summer '10 LookBook
  • ROXY Summer '10 CD
  • ROXY pen, keyring and pink ROXY lanyard
  • Giant Mug (double-sided)
  • A cool black leather oversized bangle.
  • And a ROXY sailor tee (worth IDR 245.000)!
Click here if you want to see the full story and details of the goody bag stuffs.

PURCHASES:

  • Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Chocolate Delight.

I need new lipstick so I went to Maybelline to look at some lipstick. Too bad the color I want is not available so I just grabbed what I thought would look good on me without trying it on. I chose this chocolate one because I never own a chocolate lipstick before and would love to try it. It turns out that it's not really chocolate or brown in your lips, it's kinda like between dark red and chocolate so it's actually wearable ^__^

  • Extraderm Lightening Soap

I read in one of the Female Daily beauty forum that one of the secret of bright skin is to use Extraderm Lightening Face Soap as a body soap. You leave it for 2 or 3 minutes before you rinse it off your body. I've tried the method but didn't seem to really see the difference, but some people do notice that my skin got a little brighter so maybe it works after all ^o^

  • Forever 21 Bow Shoes

I was browsing Forever 21 website when I saw this cute flat shoes on SALE for less than $5 (i think it's $4.99 if I'm not mistaken). So, knowing that my brother in law who studied in the US will be coming home for good that month, I decided to bought it and ship it to his address so he could bring it with him when he came here. I just couldn't passed up this offer, a $5 shoes with my size still available!

  • Tresemme Heat Tamer Protective Spray

Ever since I saw that almost all of the hair gurus on YouTube are using heat protectant spray before they stylize their hair I started thinking that maybe I should own one since I used hair dryers and curling iron as well as flat iron quite a lot. But I couldn't find it here in Jakarta, I don't know why all the beauty stores here doesn't stock up on it, some of the beauty stores attendants didn't even know what I'm talking about (sigh..).
So I ordered it online and ship it to my brother in law's address too so he can bring it here for me. Oh and it was on sale too! I bought it at drugstore.com and it was Buy 1 get 50% OFF for second item. So I bought two! ^__^
(read here for the full story on my F21 shoes and this Tresemme Heat Tamer)

  • Memorex iPod Dock

Hubby also wants to get something shipped to his brother's US address but didn't know what to get, we finally decided to get an iPod Dock for our iPod. Hooray, no more hogging the iPod now ;) We can listen to our songs on iPod together now, without having to fight over the iPod ^o^
We bought this one at BestBuy.com and it was cheap. We didn't have the money to buy those cool looking iPod docks from Apple so we just settled with this one. It's not so bad, it's very light and compact so we can bring it with us when we're staying at some place else. And it has alarm function where you could wake up by Muse songs or any other tracks on your iPod song list, set up as alarm sound. And it has LED display for night use and a remote control too so we can shuffle the songs without leaving our bed ;)

And that's about it.. my purchases and freebies for June. Yeay for not spending too much money this month :D

Cows..

Friday, July 16, 2010

I have mentioned before about how I love seeing cows, I actually love the black and white of cow prints hence that's why I kinda collected cow-related things ;p I don't know why I'm so into animal prints; cow prints, zebra prints, leopard prints, giraffe prints, they all seems to always makes me feel excited, it's like whenever I saw one of those prints I always drawn into it automatically.

Now I don't want to show you my "black n white cow prints collection" because I don't have that many to show off ;) so I think I'll just share what I found on etsy instead..

1st row: DownTown Paper Press, StickMan Jewelry, JennieBGoode
2nd row: CountrySquirrelsRUS (look at the rear look, so funny!! haha)
3rd row: JooSweetie, Blondes Backyard, Mommies Ink

Say mooooo......
Feel like I wanna get my hubby right over here right now to see above cows and buy it for meee, all of theemm, as in right noooww....
I just can't handle the cuteness (le sigh).

Last Month (MAY)'s Purchases and Freebies

Friday, June 18, 2010

Hello lovelies,
It's time for my Monthly Purchases post. If you read my blog then you might be aware by now that I have a monthly post about my purchases or new things that I owned that month. This post was originally written as my attempt to write about any personal purchases I made in a month that usually responsible for the mysterious case of some missing amount of money from my bank account ^o^

Sadly, when I'm sad I shop. And my husband always took me shopping whenever I feel down because he believes that shopping can make me happy again (and how true is that! ;p) But not that kind of BIG shopping,no. Usually a little window shopping with a small purchase would be enough to make me happy so no need to go big spender here (well maybe unless if I were really really really sad ^o^). And being a woman we are doomed to be moody, so there were times when I'm in a sad mood and hubby made me shop, but there were also many times when I was simply tempted to buy something. Oh women, when will we learn? ;p

So anyway, this post is about last month's (MAY) new things and purchases. Lately I got so lucky because starting the last 2 months I got a lot of new cute and lovely stuffs for free so I don't need to spend much money to have new things. Like last month, I got some hand-me-downs and this month I got more free stuffs! Thank you God of the season!

And here we go...

FREEBIES:

Shampoo & Conditioner from L'oreal!
L'oreal Indonesia sent me this set of L'oreal Nutri-Gloss Light Shampoo & Conditioner for me to try. They also invite me to join their L'oreal Star Blogger Campaign. First, they sent me some questions about my hair condition and then they sent me the range that they think would suit my hair best. They sent me a BIG bottle of shampoo & conditioner. And I think I have just found my perfect shampoo/conditioner! Read my review here..

Static-free Ionic hair brush and comb from Jaguar, complete with a traveling case,
and a 4gb Transcend USB / Flash Drive!

I got invited to an event of meet & greet with Jammal Hamadi (hollywood's hair stylist). The event was also a small blogger meet-up. The event was held at The Edge which is a famous roof-top cafe and restaurant at Kemang area. I really enjoyed the event as this is my first ever blogger meet-up, and everybody who attended got themselves a black goody bag with above items. I have been looking for a really good hair brush but never got the chance to buy it because "really good hair brush" usually means "expensive hairbrush". So when I received these STATIC-FREE hair brush and comb from Jaguar I was really excited! The static-free feature is really great if used with a hair dryer.
I also always wanted to buy my own USB because I always used my hubby's so when I received this USB from Transcend I was really surprised. Actually this goody bag is fulfilling my needs ;p Read about the event on my blog here..

Two cute character pillows!
These are souvenirs that I got from my nephew's birthday party. Aren't these pillows so cuteee? Kero Keroppi and Garfield!

A pretty journal!
I got this pretty orange journal as a souvenir from my friend's wedding party. I love the classic print on it and I also love the color. It's quite thick and has blank pages. I use this to jot down notes.

A Turquoise Cut-Out Top and a Black Wrap Knitted Cardigan!
Remember the $75 Gift certificate that I won from a giveaway? I mentioned about it in one of my post a while ago. I won it since November or December last year but the gift certificate didn't have an expiration date so I kept it. But then I finally gave in and decide to redeem my gift certificate. I chose this turquoise blouse with laser-cut detail (did I mention that I'm in love with turquoise nowadays?) and a black knitted wrap cardigan. They came all along from USA and I love them so much. The turquoise blouse is like my favorite blouse right now, I wear it everywhere. And the black cardigan? I don't think I ever own a richly-thick-but-really-comfy cardigan until now :D

Another turquoise blouse!
My sister in law got me surprised when she gave me this turquoise blouse. She bought it but it's too small on her so she gave it to me. I mean, this is such a very nice surprise, another new turquoise! Love it.

An orange & gold purse/clutch !
This is also such a lovely surprise. I got this as a free bonus, I was really surprised when I found this inside the package of the hair curling iron and mini flat iron that I bought from katalog BCA (read below)..

PURCHASES:

Stylerush Mini Flat Iron and Epic Curling Iron!
I bought these two hair stylers from my bank catalog (katalog BCA) with my credit card account. They had a special offer for a package of these two. Actually I have always wanted to buy a hair straightener iron with ion but couldn't seems to find the right one so I opted for this cute mini sized flat iron instead. Well, it's not ionized but it's very small so it's easy to bring everywhere. It has LED indicator, Sleep Mode and a global voltage (this means I could take this anywhere in the world).
I also always wanted to buy a new hair curling iron because the old one is broken. This one also has LED indicator, and ceramic coated barrel. Both has cute pink color!
Thank you BCA, buying from your catalog is as easy as one two three.

Cosmetic case from Estee Lauder!
I needed a new cosmetic case badly so after browsing here and there I finally decided to get this one. I love the color combination of this one, it's turquoise and pink. Lovely! (yes, i told you i'm in love with turquoise right now). And it holds a lot of stuffs too, actually it holds more stuff than my previous cosmetic case so I guess this is a good buy.

4 pieces of 3D table mats!
I got these when we were at the ACE Hardware store. I immediately eyed this glimmering 3D beauty from afar and grabbed my husband to see it. Hubby loved it too. And I really love the Parisienne Bistro picture in it (not to mention that it's 3D!), and it's cheap too (only IDR 9000-an) so I decided to buy 4 pieces of it to complete our future dinner table :)

Olay White Radiance Moisturizer (2 bottles).
I have used up my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel until the bottle can't pump no more. I love using it, I think it really does a different in my skin condition, but too bad it didn't have any whitening ingredient in it and I need a whitening formula right now because I've been in the sun too long these past few months. So when I finished my bottle of Clinique DDL I decided to try a new moisturizer with whitening formula. I got tempted when I saw the ad of this Olay White Radiance moisturizer and decided to try it. After all, I already have Olay White Radiance Night Cream on my dressing table (psst, trust me, the combination of Clinique DDL and Olay WR night cream is really great! I had a really bad breakouts the other day and I used this combo day and night for a few days and the breakouts cleared itself! It only took a few days to a week for this combo to work!).
Anyway, they didn't have the full sized bottle of this Olay WR moisturizer at the store so I bought two of this smaller-sized bottles instead. After using it together with the night cream for 2 weeks it finally started showing great results.

Shawl/Pashmina from Marks&Spencers!
I bought this shawl/pashmina after eyeing it for a couple of weeks. This shawl/pashmina has a hidden built-in sleeve so it would never fall off your shoulder. I love to wear it as a cardigan. I also love the pocket detail at the front and the fringe also look great. This has been my most worn item for the last few weeks now :)

Shell shaped container!
I saw this shell container in Carrefour Dept Store when they launched their new community market campaign the other day. It's handmade and it has a pretty lacquered pearlescent white-y color. It could be used as a small plate for candies, a soap dispenser or as a part of a table setting or decoration. I think this would look cute in my future apt bathroom so I bought it :)

Esprit jacket for hubby!
Hubby's old trusted H&M denim jacket has been so worn out it breaks apart and ripped in some places. Poor hubby, it's his most lovable jacket, he had it since 4 years ago and wear it almost everyday. Now that it's worn-out so bad it's time to get him a new jacket. I showed him this jacket when we were out shopping and he loved it. Now hubby got a new jacket :)

Alhamdulillah, masi bisa dapet barang gretongan lumayan banyak :D
Well, I think I didn't really spent too much cash this month of May because some of my purchases were bought with credit cards (the two hair stylers and hubby's Esprit jacket).

PLEASE NOTE that hubby's personal shopping list is not included in this post because I only put my own personal purchases/expenses here, meaning: purchases that came out of my own bank account. We each had our personal account for personal expenses, and then another account to store the money that we use for our monthly house needs such as groceries, bills, doctors, etc..
So this post is actually about my own account, the Esprit jacket is on me, I bought it for hubby so I included it in this post but the rest of hubby's own personal expenses is not listed here. So that doesn't mean that I shop many things while hubby doesn't ;p
Okay, see you on my next post!

Stress Relief and Peppermint lipbalm from Aromatic Health (+ Giveaway!)

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

After waiting for a few weeks finally the package from Aromatic Health is here!! I'm so excited to try these two simple but very useful items: a Peppermint lip balm (cos I'm a lip balm sucker) and a Stress Relief roll on oil (because I easily got stressed).

Aromatic Health is a Canadian based online store where you could find clinical aromatherapy & products for health & wellness, pre/postpartum healing, baby & skin care. I love the fact that their products are handmade, and they only use pure and organic essential oils and raw ingredients. What's not to love about that? Now here's my 2 new essential items:

I like the look of the products, the comforting soft green color and the professional looking label. But what I love most is the product itself, especially the Stress Relief. This Stress Relief roll-on gave me the result I wanted.

My doctor always said that I stressed a lot. I think about a lot of things and that made me stress either I realize it or not. And that's bad for my health. That's why I quit my office work a couple of years ago because my health is deteriorating due to high stress.

And psstt... this is only between me and you, sometimes I have anxiety attack. It started a few months back but I don't know what causes it. It would start with my feet getting cold and then I started freaking out and stressed out and then my heart beats really fast. I even went to ER one night because I thought something happened with my body. But they always say I'm alright, I guess that's where I learned that I was actually experiencing an Anxiety Attack.

Thank God I hardly get them now, but sometimes my feet still got cold all of a sudden and whenever I started to stressed out I just grab this Stress Relief roll-on and glide it on my temple and nape of the neck as instructed in the bottle, and everything will be okay. I will start to loosen up and even forget about the cold feet.

This thing is also very useful during work. Sometimes if I got a load of articles to write with a very short deadline I stressed out. And it would turn me into this Lady Gaga slash Sue Sylvester from Glee - which translate to: crazy b**ch with a really bad temperament (poor hubs).
But not with this Stress Relief on hand! I just apply it on the temple and the back of my hands, it would relax me a bit because this stress relieving blend of essential oil is packed with anxiolytic properties that has relaxing effect.

I say: thumbs up for this Stress Relief product. I never leave home without it now.

And as for the Peppermint Lip Balm, well what can I say? It's minty, it moisturize my lips and it's not greasy or leave residue on my lips. It's also contain No artificial fragrances or preservatives and Non-Toxic! So if you're looking for a good minty lip balm then this should be your choice.

Aside from the two items above they also have so many other great products there, they have products in gift sets too, so you can try many items at once or you could send it to someone you care about. Take a look at this Essential Wellness Kit for example:

This Essential Gift Set is a must have for any first aid kit. It includes a 10ml roll-on of HeadBalm, 5ml Cold & Sinus essential oil blend, a 5ml First Aid essential oil blend and a tube of Peppermint Lip Balm.

Aromatic Health have four line of products:
  • AROMATHERAPEUTIC: geared towards personal health and to aid in healing common ailments. (the Stress Relief I got is from this line)
  • MOTHER & CHILD: developed for mothers and their children, to aid with both pre and post childbirth.
  • SKIN CARE: designed to nourish, pamper and soothe your skin with all natural oils and herbs. (the Peppermint Lip Balm is from this line)
  • CUSTOM FORMULAS: these are made to target specific symptoms and ailments. (Note that products can be customized, as they are made as ordered, to suit your needs, ie. allergies to an oil.)

Their products are also cruelty free and do not contain synthetic fragrances, parabens, petrochemicals or preservatives. They also use a minimal amount of packaging and promote the recycling or the re-use of their jars and bottles. GREEN LIVING to the max!

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Aromatic Health will be available in Singapore SOON! Yeay! It would be closer to me if I need to buy another Stress Relief ;)
