Hotel Review : Aston Marina Ancol + [Places We Go]

Friday, April 12, 2013

Last February me and my family went to stay at the Aston Marina Hotel for a weekend. Aston Marina is located near the Ancol beach (but it's not located inside the Ancol area), in fact it is located within walking distance to the main Ancol gate.

Before checking in to the hotel, we went to the Ancol area first to have a late lunch at Le Bridge, the restaurant that's located off the shore.

We have to walk on a long boardwalk to get there, but walking the boardwalk is of course a lot of fun because of the beautiful view of the calm sea and the vast sky behind it. We were there in the afternoon so the sun was not very hot up there. The restaurant itself has a unique circular building, the food and drinks were okay, nothing really special in taste but they were all generally okay.

I haven't been to the beach for quite a while so it was nice to see the sands and sea for a change. This short getaway is also what we need in the middle of our busy daily life with works and so on. I'm glad to still be able to gather with my family and spent some quality time together.

When we were young we would almost feel hesitant to go out with our parents because we would prefer to hang out with our friends, right? But at this age, when you grow older you started to realize how precious the time is, and you would be happy to be able to spend quality time with your parents and the rest of your family >>> I'm talking like an old lady here, sigh.. does this mean I'm old??

By the way, I love boardwalk photos because they give gorgeous background, and with just a little bit of editing the photos can turn out great! Maybe that's why this site is popular for a pre-wedding photo spot ;p

Do you like my editing?

And this is Le Bridge, the restaurant at the middle of the long boardwalk off the shore. From here we can see the limitless sea and the big ships at far. The boardwalk does not stop here, it continues to the deeper area of the sea and then made a circle back to the shore, so it is a pretty long boardwalk if you decided to walk on it ;p But through this boardwalk you can go to the middle of the sea and then circled back to the shore with the boardwalk trails.

the boardwalk:

After an afternoon at the Ancol beach, we signed out and go straight to the hotel just outside of Ancol's main gate. The Aston Marina Ancol hotel is unique because it is part hotel and part apartment. So the whole area is consisted of 3 or 4 tall buildings, and one of them have been turned into a hotel while the other three buildings remain private apartments. The swimming pool for the hotel is located in different area from the apartment's pool so visitors of the hotel can enjoy their own pool without having to be disturbed by the apartment residents and vice versa.

Because it was originally an apartment building so the rooms in this hotel is more like a mini apartment, equipped with kitchen and living/dining room. Maybe this is what they called a condotel??

(sorry for the already messy room ;p)

the view from our terrace:
The night view was fantastic.
The morning view was also fabulous, we can see the sea and big ships set sails far above the city border.

the pool:

I also love the pool terrace. The swimming pool is located at the 7th floor (if I'm not mistaken, because I forgot) so it has a city view of it's own. The pool area is quite small but they decorate it pretty nicely so although I didn't swim but I pretty much enjoyed sitting at the rattan bench facing the pool with the lush green surrounding all over me.

Because the pool is located on a higher floor so it was quite windy and the wind makes the swimmers shivers easily, LOL (yeah, that's you bro and hubs!) ;p

You'll see below that the harsh wind kept shoving my bangs on to my face, LOL. I had to hold my hair in order to take a proper photograph or else my face would be covered with hairs due to the wind ;p

Overall, we have a pleasant stay here in Ancol Aston Marina and would recommend it to anybody whose looking for a family hotel in that area. Just remember that this hotel is located outside Ancol (marina) but it's just near the main gate of Ancol. This hotel is also close to Mangga Dua (the famous shopping area in Jakarta).

My next plan is to spend a night in one of the hotel inside Ancol area so it would be easier for us to enjoy all the facilities Ancol has to offer. Ancol is still one of my favorite local / Jakarta holiday spot because it is the closest beach we had and it is a really different view from the tall buildings of Jakarta. It is also really nice to be able to get away from all the hectic daily life once in a while :)

See you on my next post!

Apt Project: Modena Warehouse Sale

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Weww.. ;p

Oh well... semoga akan berguna ya ;) ==>> Pasti berguna! (meyakinkan diri sendiri)

Catatan Hari Ini

Monday, March 18, 2013

Semalem ada yang mengigau kaya gini:
(H: Dia - M: Saya)

H: "Tckk, heh kamu tuh lagian ngapain sih pake kaya gitu? Hhhh.." (dengan nada marah2 sambil terlelap).
M: Bengong ngeliatin yang lagi ngigo. Dalam hati bertanya2 "buset mimpiin gue tapi kok mimpinya ngomel2" >__<

Lalu keesokan paginya:
M: "Yang, semalem kamu mimpiin aku apaan, dalam mimpi aja aku kok kena apes mulu diomelin?"
H: "Hah? Oohh... iya itu lagian sih kamu bandel pas di mimpi".
M: "Emang mimpi apaan? Bandel gimana?"
H: "Orang kita serumah lagi dikerubungin zombie kamu malah keluar pintu, kan zombie nya pada dateng ngerubungin".
M: -__-

Susah deh emang kalo hobi nya nonton The Walking Dead.

Decor: Exterior & Landscape

Saturday, March 9, 2013

These are probably my favorite landscape of the year. The cabin looks awesome and the location is superb! It's perched right at the side of the lake and right on top of it too!

The view is also breathtaking. I always love big windows with beautiful views of water landscape...

Don't you love it too?

Decor: Breakfast Nook

Friday, March 1, 2013

I always love nooks and crannies especially for breakfast spot or reading area. It looks and feels intimate. Comfy nooks that located right beside a window is my most favorites!

If I have a house in the future (and if I have the budget in the future) I would definitely create a breakfast nook or a little reading nook somewhere in my house (if the space permits).

As for now (since it's impossible to create a nook in our apartment) all I can do is dream...

And these are some inspirations for my dream breakfast nook:

Which one is your favorite?

Restaurant Review: Roppan

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

UPDATED!
Note: I found the receipt! That means this post is now updated with the price and name of the food ;)

--------------------------------------------

This photos are from several months ago. We went to Roppan at Gandaria City on our way back home from an event I attended at central Jakarta. Gandaria City was on the route home so we decided to have dinner at one of the many restaurants there.

After browsing around some restaurant options we chose for Roppan

The location of Roppan is quite unique because it is located at both side of a hallway inside the mall. At one side there's the food stall and cashier with a few chairs inside, then at the other side is a bigger seating area complete with a drink stall right in the middle of it, and this area stretch outside to the outdoor / smoking area.

You can see from above photo that there is a hallway between the two areas, so it's a pretty unique location. I also love the overall decor of this place because it's warm and comfy. The wooden chairs are mixed with sofa chairs, and the outdoor / smoking area looks pretty comfy too.

Roppan serve Japanese food, and their specialty is the Roppan Toast which is a big boxed toast filled with ice creams. There are lots of varieties of Roppan toast to choose from the menu.

Roppan is actually short for Roppongi-Pan. Their other specialty is their various kinds of Japanese milk tea drinks.

Roppan at Gandaria City have quite many options to choose from. You can eat light meals such as their famous Roppan Toast menu that they served with ice cream. You can also opt for heavier meals such as bento box and a few options of ramen.  They also offer various drinks so you can also choose to just hang out here with a laptop and a drink on your table ;p

They even have a stand-alone stall to serve drinks (as you see in the left side of the photo above).

Anyway, because these are old photos so I'm afraid that I have lost the bill and price note, so we're gonna have to do this post with photos only ;p
I hope that's okay with you guys... [UPDATED: I have found the receipt so I have updated this post with price and name of the food].

Time for some food porn :

We were hungry so we chose Bento for our main choice.
Chicken Yakiniku Bento (with additional miso soup), IDR 32.091,-
Beef Hamburg Bento (with additional miso soup), IDR 36.182,-

I was also curious with their Roppan Toast so I picked one from the menu and it was gooooooddddd.....

We also ordered a miso shiru (Japanese tofu soup)

And some freshly made drinks:
Iced Peach Tea & Iced Berry Tea, both IDR 15.000,-

Overall, all the food and drinks that we ordered were pretty good, and not one thing disappoints us that night. The bento boxes were pretty good although it's not super delicious, but it's pretty yummy and worth the price. The drinks were also good and the Roppan Toast was super yummy.. ^o^

I didn't remember the exact prices of the food we ordered above, but I do know that Roppan is in the affordable price range. I've been there for quite some times now, and on my last visit my cousin ordered a green fried rice a la Indonesia style that came with many side dishes, and the portion is also quite big (at least for me) - and that big plate only costs IDR 27.000,-.

I also ordered their Spicy Beef Ramen + Cold Ocha (green tea), and it only costs me IDR 52.000,-.

So I hope you get the idea of the price range :)
