    Old (or new?) royal paintings

    Sunday, January 23, 2011

Hello, have you guys entered my currently running giveaways of EcoSmart (US) and Orient Watch (US) and Shaw Treatment (WORLDWIDE - and this one will ends tomorrow). Better hurry up ^o^

So anyway, one of my interest is history and anything related with it (maybe that's why i love vintage because vintage means history or something from the past, right? ;p). Well, speaking of history-related things, one of my hobby is to look at paintings of the royals, you know... such paintings as of Marie Antoinette, Duchess of Devonshire, etc..
I don't know why but old royal paintings always gave me the thrills, i love to imagine what their real faces looked like, what the clothes they were wearing in the paintings looks like in real life, and what life did they have back then, et cetera.. et cetera... ^o^

I wish there's a time machine for that.

But since there's no time machine, we can still play with time. These genius amateur artists shows us (at least) a glimpse of what would our generation be like if we were living in the past ;)

Can you guess who they are?
Yes, they're our beloved Hollywood celebrities! -- the artists turned their pictures to look like they were living in the past times. Fabulous isn't it? I found these through a photo effect contest at Worth1000. If you like these arts then you should go visit the website where there are many others like these that's worth to praise.
And don't forget to browse around while you're there because there are lots of other artsy photo galleries that can wow you too.

I wish i could have someone draw or make my picture to look like one of the above. If any of you would do it for me I would be forever grateful and i would cherish and say your name 100 times a day. Bless you.

    Enjoy!

Does anyone have a gold collection?

    Tuesday, January 11, 2011

My late grandfather has a fine collection of coins. He once traveled to neighboring countries in his youth, and got some memento's on his way back. Most of them are coins. Those coins are from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, US coins, and some European coins, the majority of those coins dated back in 1940-50's.

I used to have such a great time when he showed his collections, which now my father keeps in his private stash. I wonder how much they're worth now, are they collectible items or not. Maybe they're not much of an investment, but it's pretty much a wonderful collection.

    Gold Coins

I was reading other people's collectibles which they meant as an investment also. Some collect rare memorabilia of famous personalities, others collect cars, and some collect coins just like my gramps. The difference is, it's made of gold.

I know, I know, there's a big difference between regular coins and gold coins. Gold prices are not to be compared with collectible items...Last I checked, the price of gold is around IDR 430000 or about US$ 45 per gram.
1940's coins may be around US$ 10 I presume. I'm not a collector, so I'm guessing here. But who doesn't love gold? Gold price skyrocketing in the last decade, it's bound to make any person wanting their hands on it.

So to keep in mind, when you spot gold, or happen to have a gold spot on your collection, make sure you put it in a bank, or somewhere no one has access to. Because it's sure is one heck of an investment!

    Learn Your Insurance

    Saturday, January 8, 2011

As years gone by, we are now started thinking to seriously get ourselves some good insurances. Health insurance are already covered by my husband's office, and I have a personal hospital insurance. So now we are thinking of getting insurance for our car and our other valuable things (although we don't have many valuable things in our house ;p). I started to think that insurance is kind of important, you'll never know what's gonna happen to you and by having insurance you will at least feel a little bit secured.

But getting an insurance quote is quite a hassle and sometimes when they say it's free, it's not actually free. There are some hidden fine print that in the end of the day you'll be shelling out money. Who wants to be suckered like that? I surely don't. I'm no insurance expert but if you ask me i would surely advise you to read your forms first and try to get a little knowledge on common insurance essentials so you don't get fooled.

    More Pics @ MySpaceAntics.com

Trying to choose which insurance company is important too. I know there are a lot of companies who offer good insurance quotes out there but most of them has difficult rules and too many details to pay attention to, I prefer a much simpler one with enough benefits to cover our needs.

I tried to search for local insurance company that truly gave out free insurance quotes and pretty fast at it too, I found some of them but I haven't decide which one is the best among my choices of local websites that offer insurance quotes. While for my USA followers I learned that one of the most recommended is www.freeinsurancequotes.org. They provide insurance quotes for car, home & life insurance all at one place. If only there is an Indonesian version of that website..

Shaw Treatment Review + GIVEAWAY ! - CLOSED

    Thursday, January 6, 2011

I have the opportunity to try a variety of products from Shaw Treatment, and when the package finally arrived a couple of days ago I was so happy and couldn't wait to try it. The reviews on other blogs make me very curious and wants to try it myself. Their website also very user-friendly and I love what I see and read on the website.

Shaw Treatment is a company who offer great body care products while helping to make the world a better place. For any Shaw Treatment product that you buy they will donate over 25% of the sale to a charity working on grass-roots community projects in Africa. And you could choose which charity focus you want to support from several options they listed at their website.
That is one major commitment and I always have the most respect for companies like this.

They also have a great "No risk 365 Day Guarantee" policy, so if you're not satisfied you can keep the bottle and get all your money back >> which I highly doubt because I'm sure you will love it ;)

Other thing that I love about this company is the fact that they use natural and organic ingredients for their products. They blend it with science to make products that is safe for our skin , even for the most sensitive ones.

They also supports Ethical Trade, Vegan (do not contain any animal by-products and have not been tested on animals), and every bottle and container is Recyclable and Biodegradable. >> SUPER AWESOME!

    And now for the review,
I received their JET SET - SWAHILI COAST Sampler Travel Set:
It includes four 2oz. bottles of :
Body Lotion, Face & Body Cleanser, Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner.

This is like sampling the most popular products from Shaw treatment all at once! And I didn't waste any time to try them out. I took a bath that afternoon with the Swahili Coast Face & Body Cleanser, wash my hair with the Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner, and put on the Body Lotion afterward. And the first thing I noticed is: the scent. It was HEAVENLY.

Oh I love the scent of the Swahili Coast line.. I can't describe it to you but it's just spellbinding. A little bit like vanilla. Wait, no, I think it was coconut...added with tropical fruit infusion. Yes, that's it! And I just simply love it.

The body cleanser, shampoo & conditioner didn't lather much which what I expect from natural soaps and shampoo. Who needs lather and suds anyway, since most of them are made of chemicals, yikes! I like mine with little to no suds, the less chemicals got in contact with my skin the better ;)

The shampoo & conditioner really do it's job, my hair is volumized and didn't limp at all. But what I love most is the Body Lotion. It smells really great (!) and the scent lingers on my skin for many hours. I love the consistency of the lotion too, it's not greasy and not too liquid-y. My skin absorbs it easily and no residue left >> > L.O.V.E

    DO GOOD WHILE YOU SHOP!
Every profit made will be donated by Shaw Treatment to charities supporting relief efforts throughout Africa. They will donate over 25% of the sale to a charity of your choice! (list of charities are on their website)

    First Post! (Bandung Quick Trip)

    Monday, January 3, 2011

    Hola!
    We're now entering the year 2011 :)
First of all, I know most of you were probably busy spending your holidays and all, so maybe you all don't have much time to browse internet and participate in giveaways ,therefore hereby I announced that I will be extending the EZ Sox giveaway! Now you have until 10 January to enter the giveaway, click here to enter it now!

Okay, second of all.. I just want to upload some unpublished posts from December. It's about my last trip of 2010. I haven't been gone far during 2010, only to nearby cities such as Bandung, Garut, Puncak, Anyer, Bogor, and.. that's all i could remember right now ;)

One of my 2011 resolution is to be able to get away to more cities and going abroad again, I've been dying to go to USS (Universal Studio Singapore) and Australia. This plans didn't work out on 2010 so I really hope me & hubs can execute the plans some time in 2011 ;)

So anyway, here's a short story of my last travel in 2010..
Me and hubby's family went to Bandung again around 2 weeks ago for a mini getaway. Bandung is only 2 hours drive from Jakarta and it's a mountainous area so it has colder climate than Jakarta. It's nice to go somewhere that has different atmosphere from our busy city.. Day 1 we had dinner at Tizi's, a famous oldie but goodie restaurant, we had bratwurst and oven baked chicken. I used to go to this restaurant when I was still in college, well not very often because the price was a little bit too expensive for college students haha but it's a nice restaurant for a date ;)

Day 2 we went to have lunch at another famous oldie but goodie restaurant, it's a noodle restaurant called "Mie Linggarjati". Aside from the chicken "yamin" noodle menu, the restaurant is also famous for it's avocado juice. The avocado juice is really different from other restaurant, it's nothing like i've ever tasted before, so it's really recommended :)

We went to factory outlets after lunch but we didn't buy anything because the place was so crowded and the prices are actually the same as in the malls so we had our doubts.. But overall, we had a great time (as always.. :D)

Oh there's one thing that i forgot to tell you, we were supposed to be traveling to Belitung on early January but something came up and the plan didn't work out for us (sob..), but we had other subtitute plans to travel to Malang, Surabaya and Madura by early February. So let's hope that one will work out successfully :D
