My take on Online Money Making

Friday, August 27, 2010

Hey readers, since I sometimes received questions whether or not you can make money online, well my answer is YES! I even quit my job as online seller after I know that I can make the same amount of money with less energy and less time consumed. Not to mention that it's my hobby to write and blog so having your hobby as your main job is really satisfying :)

Anyway, I want to share to you about how I got my income online since not all of those "make money online" opportunity actually really pays off . For me, my most promising income from the online world is through my blog. Google ads and other affiliate programs didn't really give me any big profit (well it does in the end, but it took so long to gain big profits), blog advertising are my biggest income. And I really thank my sponsors for that. I offer several varieties of advertising in my blog so that's where my #1 income came from.

And then secondly, from those programs who offered sponsored or paid link on posts, where you write or put some links in your posts and then get paid to do that. It's different from my Review posts in which I didn't got paid at all, I only receive free products for review purposes. But both has successfully given me satisfactory :) For me, free stuffs equals free money because you don't have to spend money for all those stuffs ^o^

And then I found another new way of making money online, it's through Sponsored Tweets. It's where you post sponsored links and ads via Twitter. I have been accumulating some small fortunes from this one. You can choose your sponsors or which ad to tweet, and you can set your own price. Just make sure you tweet these ads once in a while, don't bombard your tweets with these ads all the times because then you're spamming.
It works like google ads, it took some times to gather your dollars but this one is much faster than google ads, especially if you have many followers on your twitter account. Click below to give it a try:
SponsoredTweets referral badge

Since I mentioned above about free stuffs means free money, there's another way for you to get free stuffs: go participate in a giveaway! :D You know how I love giveaways. I love hosting giveaways and I also love entering giveaways on many other sites. Sometimes I get lucky but mostly not ;p ..

Anyway, I joined another giveaway website called Giveaway Scout. It's a giveaway search engine. It's where you can get all the links to all the latest giveaways so you don't have to look for them yourselves. I think it's a great service, like one stop for all. You can subscribed to them so you will never have to miss another giveaway, sweepstakes or contests again.

Hope those links help you :)

Where to shop for Custom Gifts and Tshirts

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I am in need of some gifts right now.
I have browsed some of my favorite places to shop for gifts including those custom design stores. These kind of stores are unique. It's where you could personalize an item to match your personality or hobbies, and it's always a great place to browse gifts. What could be a better gift than a personalized ones, right?

They usually have a wide array of themes and designs to choose from, and once you find the design you want, you can choose from a lot of palettes to print your design on. In most cases you can choose to print it in t-shirts, baby clothes, bibs, underwears, totebags, mugs, drink bottles, cards, pillows, aprons, even clocks!
All you have to do is find yourself a very nice design that you really want. And if you don't find any design that you like there, you can just upload an image of your own!

Speaking of custom tshirt , I think CafePress probably has the most abundant designs, from sports tshirts to funny quotes, movie tshirts, etc. They even have a blog called Death by T-Shirt ! My personal favorite is the the retro vintage design, just like these ones:

How 'bout that? Of all the custom design store out there, CafePress probably has the world's largest collection of users-designed products. I once ordered something personalized from a similar store but they don't have as many designs as the ones on CafePress.

And I also found these cute pillows while I'm browsing there, just incase any of you needs any new pillows ^o^ :

Aren't they an eye-candy? I decided I want these cute pillows to adorn my future sofa on my future apartment. I mean, look at that, how cute are they? They're gonna look cute if paired together too. I love chandelier. And i love pink. 'Nuff said.

Oh and speaking about the gifts that I was looking for, I think I found one. How 'bout these printed journals? They look fabulous for gifts, don't you think? Hmm, the soft colorful journal on the left looks perfect for a gift while the Kitten Reflection journal on the right would be perfect for myself ^o^ haha.. Oh how i love personalized items..

What do you think? Which one do you like?

All About Belgian Chocolate with Laurent Bernard

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Who doesn't love chocolates? IMHO there's something wrong with a person who doesn't like chocolates - lol. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to a blogger workshop with a guest star: a renowned chocolatier from Singapore, Laurent Bernard.
Although I was on temporary chocolate ban (my therapist suggest me to avoid chocolate for a while) but I couldn't resist the invitation when mbak Lintang from Prisma PR contacted me and asked if I could come to the event. Hell yeah I would! -lol

The event was held at Emilie restaurant, it's a fine dining restaurant located in Senopati street, Jakarta. The event started at noon by lunch (too bad I was very late due to the lunch traffic) so I didn't get a chance to taste the famous fine dining menu from Emilie. Oh well, maybe next time..

After the lunch we all moved upstairs to the second floor where there's a room complete with big kitchen just like the ones you saw on TV. There I met Desy, fellow blogger from Living Daisy - I got free InStyle and Fortune magazines from her - thanks so much Des! I also met another fellow blogger Nuniek from Nuniek.com downstairs, I also saw some familiar faces there, bloggers I've met before at previous blogger meet-up events.

Anyway, here comes Laurent Bernard with his black chef outfit, stunning! He's actually French but he's residing in Singapore right now and opened a shop there. And he's so young..

The subject of the workshop is "All About Belgian Chocolate". Mmm...yumm...I love belgian chocolate...I love chocolate...any chocolate.. ^o^
And yes I get to taste all the yumminess that were served right there on the spot. Laurent and his pretty Indonesian assistant (i can't remember her name) made some fresh chocolates (Praline and Ganache) and some hot chocolates with creams and garnish...oh I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

When it comes to chocolates, there are the everyday candy bars we consume every day, the exotic Belgian chocolates found in coffee houses and specialty stores. Belgian chocolate is considered to be the gourmet standard by which all other chocolate confections are measured. Even the Swiss, known for their own high quality chocolate, imported the basic recipe from French and Belgian chocolatiers.

What makes Belgian chocolate unique is the quality of the ingredients. Belgian chocolate may be expensive, but those who have sampled it say that there is no comparison between a standard chocolate bar and a Belgian praline. In other words, they're from a different class so can not be compared to each other. It's like comparing Prada and Gap ;)

Laurent and his pretty assistant

Despite the myth that chocolates could make you fat and will trigger acne, they actually have lots of benefits for your body. Did you know that chocolate contains a wide range of vitamins (vitamins A1, B1, B2, C, D, and E) and essential minerals?
Cocoa also contains both anti-oxidants and flavonoids which fight free radicals that form cancer, and anticoagulants which are one of the most natural properties of aspirin and prevent blood clots.
Cocoa also has some essential oils that are good for strengthening the bones, hair, nails, and also feeds the skin in a manner that delays the signs of aging.

See? chocolates are actually good for you. It makes you feel good, it elevates your mood, reduces anxiety and probably the world's most pleasant anti-depressant :) No wonder all the ladies loves it ^o^

We also learned the difference between Praline and Ganache. Praline is cocoa with caramelized nuts/fruits filling, while Ganache is cocoa with cream/milk. I've tried them both at the workshop and I love them both! Ganache is sweeter than Praline though, it must be because of the milk that was added to it.

Anyway, at the workshop we get to see Laurent works his magic. We saw Laurent and his assistant made this..

into this..

and then to this:

That's the Pralines.
He also made us a fresh batch of Ganache, it looked the same as this one but the difference is in the filling.

And then he made us these stunning hot chocolates.
First, he melt some chocolates and then added some milk. He then pour the mixture to the jug:

And while he's cooking the choco mix above, his assistant made these:

Those are chilled glasses filled with frozen vanilla ice cream.
And then Laurent pour the warm mixture into the glasses:

And then he added cold whipped cream on top and sprinkled some almonds as garnish too:

And all those prep comes down to this heaven-on-earth yumminess:

The warmth of the chocolate milk mixed in with the cold of the vanilla ice cream and icy whipped cream is like HEAVEN to my mouth. Oh thy delicious cocoa...how i'd give up anything to drink you again...

One tip that I got from Laurent is to sip only warm mineral water between tasting chocolates, that's the best way to enjoy it.

Laurent Bernard has more than 20 years experience in pastry & chocolate. After graduating from culinary school in France, Laurent did work in some of the most prestigious 5 stars hotels in London, Middle East and Caribbean. It's in 2003 that Laurent lands in Singapore where he opened "Laurent's cafe & Chocolate Bar".

The stores are located in:

The Pier at Robertson Quay 80
Mohammad Sultan Road #01-11
Singapore

And another branch in:

5B Portsdown Road #01-02
Singapore

You can also order his chocolates from the online store:
http://www.thechocolatefactoryonline.com

Oh, I almost forgot, the goody bag! This is probably the cutest paper bag ever, I love the robin's egg color with a hint of brown. What a lovely packaging!

And here's what's inside.. a bag of Orangette (another Laurent's yummy creations) and a chocolate bar engraved with flower, almost too pretty to eat!

The Orangettes (the pic was taken after we ate half of it ;p):

And the choco bar which is my favorite (!) :

Oh boy...oh boy...oh boy... The goody bag didn't last long, me and hubby were munching it down right out of the package ^o^ We did saved some for our family to try but our portion only lasts less than a half day ;p

This Falling Leaves decorative Lamp

and this beautiful umbrella

The Falling Leaves lamp is perfect for adding a soft glow of warm light and a fine decorative touch to any room. Me and hubby fell in love with the design, and the green will suit our yellow-ish bedroom wall. I personally love the eco-friendly look of this lamp, it's made of wood and paper with what looks like real dried leaves planted in the paper. It's a really cool lamp, perfect as a gift for your eco-lover friends. It's $24.95 on the website.

This lamp came un-assembled but the package includes everything we need, such as a bulb, a 110-volt electrical chord, socket and switch. And the assembly process is easy peasy, hubby assembled it in less than 15 minutes. Women can do it themselves since it's not hard to figure it out.
The lamp has a soft yellow/warm glow when switched on. The chord is not too long nor it is too short and the light itself is not too bright nor too dark, it was perfect for our night lamp. We really really love this lamp and hubby gives it two thumbs up! ^__^

And this umbrella...

Ooh what can I say about this umbrella beside it's so pretty and wonderful and enchanting at the same time. I never thought an umbrella could be this charming. Ted of Oriental-Decor sent me this red traditional Thai umbrella called the Oxblood, and I don't know how he knows that red is my favorite color ^o^
My first thought is this is a very beautiful decorative umbrella, but hey, I didn't know that this umbrella is actually waterproof!! Yes, I kid you not, these umbrella were actually made with oil-treated cotton and lacquered with a special substance that give them protection from water. So yeah, in case of emergency you can use it as a normal umbrella but still, many people prefer to use them for decoration or protection from the sun.
As a decorative item, you can put it in your office or living room as an accent or use it as props. It's handcrafted and hand-painted by Asian artisans, this particular umbrella of mine was made in Thailand.

My mom also adores this umbrella, sometimes she helps coordinate parties so she already thinking some ways on how to use the umbrella as part of party decorations. I examined the umbrella and it is quite thick and will not tear off easily. The wooden handle is of good quality and I also love the quality of the vibrant paint used in it.
This one is on SALE for $25.95 but there are also a lot of other umbrella types and options at Oriental-Decor.

Wait, there's more!
You can find lots of decorative as well as other knick-knacks on Oriental Decor. Maybe you need to change your little end table to spruce up your room a bit?

Or maybe try adding a little decorative touch to that boring living room or bedroom, how bout' adding this pretty sky blue silk lantern in the corner? It will surely brings out your room, it can also be a conversation starter once your guests see it. I mean, how pretty is this?

And if you need a unique gifts why don't give your friends a set of this cute and one of a kind chopstick set? Who wouldn't love this pastel hues chopstick? I would surely want these in my kitchen cabinet drawers ;p

My New Fave Lounge Pants from Leave Me B (Review)

Friday, August 6, 2010

I've been wanting to have a good relaxing lounge pants that I can use for everyday wear so when I got the chance to review Leave Me B products I chose this Martini Mama sweat pants to review. Leave Me B offer innovative products for both pregnant and non-pregnant women (even for guys too!) with a sense of humor in it. Their tag is "From Maternity To Martinis.." so no wonder they have a lot of martinis themed products at the website.

This Martini Mama Sweat Pants costs $28 at the website and come in sizes S, M, L, XL. The first thing I noticed when I open the package was the fabric of the pants. The outer fabric felt very comfortable to the touch and the inside is really soft. When I tried it on, it sure is comfortable! I love how the fabric touches my skin, it's soft yet very warm, perfect to be worn at night or to sleep with, where the air -con in my bedroom is always on. Or when it's raining outside.

The sweat pants have a low-riding style that I love and it's made of 100% American Apparel California Fleece cotton, combed for softness and comfort. No wonder they're my favorite pants for lounging around now.

LeaveMeB is your source for funny, original, hip, and hot Mom, Maternity, Kids, and Dad tees. The prices are affordable, with $16 adult tees and $14 for baby onesie. The quality of the fabrics are excellent (take example of my sweat pants above, I never felt a sweat pants as comfortable as that!).
To give you some clues of what they sell, here are some of my favorites from their store:

What a cute mommy and baby set!

For daddy in duty.

For singles.

And a set of colorful burp clothes that's perfect for a gift. It comes in a set of three.
And for $3 more they'll bundle your set with toole and fun ribbon, like the one above.

They're also offering barware with Martini themes and there's always a SALE going on too. Check them out. You'll also get a 10% OFF if you sign up for their mailing list.
