Weekly Digest !

I loove bakery and patisserie.. The smell of the freshly baked breads makes me feel like I'm in heaven, heaven of buttery sweet and salty breads..hmm...yumm...
Me and hubby just bought 6 assorted breads this afternoon ;p talk about hunger pangs..
Since my therapist told me NOT TO EAT CHOCCOLATE for a while (so awful, poor me) so I got myself a croissant, warm apple delight (which is like an apple pie), and my favorite: coffee bun!
Hubby bought himself a dazzling chocolate cupcake (with the most thick of layered chocolate), another chocolate bread with warm chocolate inside that would melt if you slice open the bread (yeah, I know, heaven!), and a crunchy cheese stick bread.
We're both in heaven. Warm bread heaven.

I always love MoMa, ever since I saw it's catalog several years back. I fell in love with the store (and the museum too, of course!). They always have the most unique everyday items that I would love to collect in my own museum ;) I just got back from browsing their online MoMa Store and here's what I found for my "imaginary" kitchen (click the pic for links):

A colorful, durable and easy-to-clean cutting board from Antony Joseph (made in UK).

and a Whistler Cork Spice Rack by Francisco Vieira Martins (made in Portugal).

-------------------------

Talking about kitchen, I am always in awe whenever I see one of these Bento Box for kids. They make the cutest bento box!! Children would looove it, no children would hate their food ;) Japanese women are sooo creative, it's too cute to be eaten! Yes, it's all FOOD in there, people. Real food. KAWAII..!! ^o^

Fashion Books giveaway!

Friday, May 21, 2010

I love giving away books! Because I like to read, and I thought that you should too ;p Any kind of book is like food to our minds. Anyway, I have this great opportunity from Hachette Books to give away not one but TWO of their books to TWO winners! Yeay! And since I have a fashion blog and I love to read about fashion so we're gonna be giving away some fashion related books. And here are the books up for grabs:

First stop:

This book by authors Matthew Frederick and Alfredo Cabrera is a book on fashion design that will be a perfect book for any fashion school wannabe, a recent fashion school graduate or even a seasoned professional. The world of the fashionista is brought to vivid life with 101 introductory lessons on such topics as how a designer anticipates cultural trends and "sees" the fashion consumer, the workings of the fashion calendar, the ways a designer collection is conceived, the manufacture of fabric, fashion illustration, and more.
Judging from it's unique package style this book could be a lot of fun! I want one please (too bad i can't enter this giveaway - le sigh)

Second stop:

This book by Kim Johnson Gross is one of those fashion book that I want to have in my book shelf. Here's what the website says about the book: Every woman's closet-no matter the size-is a room of her own. In that space hang side by side the special occasions and the everyday, the triumphs and the disasters, the memories we want to keep and those we should jettison. Gross helps us to reconsider our closet identity and discover who we want to be. She shares her personal journey and the intimate, poignant and often humorous stories of the dozens of women she interviewed across the country. Along with calming fashion advice about how to choose flattering clothes that will fit any woman's shape and style, Gross's engaging stories will help every woman evolve gracefully from wife to mother, from empty-nester to globe-trotting adventurer--whatever role she chooses--while letting her style express her inner beauty.

WIN! WIN! WIN!

Stress Relief and Peppermint lipbalm from Aromatic Health (+ Giveaway!)

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

After waiting for a few weeks finally the package from Aromatic Health is here!! I'm so excited to try these two simple but very useful items: a Peppermint lip balm (cos I'm a lip balm sucker) and a Stress Relief roll on oil (because I easily got stressed).

Aromatic Health is a Canadian based online store where you could find clinical aromatherapy & products for health & wellness, pre/postpartum healing, baby & skin care. I love the fact that their products are handmade, and they only use pure and organic essential oils and raw ingredients. What's not to love about that? Now here's my 2 new essential items:

I like the look of the products, the comforting soft green color and the professional looking label. But what I love most is the product itself, especially the Stress Relief. This Stress Relief roll-on gave me the result I wanted.

My doctor always said that I stressed a lot. I think about a lot of things and that made me stress either I realize it or not. And that's bad for my health. That's why I quit my office work a couple of years ago because my health is deteriorating due to high stress.

And psstt... this is only between me and you, sometimes I have anxiety attack. It started a few months back but I don't know what causes it. It would start with my feet getting cold and then I started freaking out and stressed out and then my heart beats really fast. I even went to ER one night because I thought something happened with my body. But they always say I'm alright, I guess that's where I learned that I was actually experiencing an Anxiety Attack.

Thank God I hardly get them now, but sometimes my feet still got cold all of a sudden and whenever I started to stressed out I just grab this Stress Relief roll-on and glide it on my temple and nape of the neck as instructed in the bottle, and everything will be okay. I will start to loosen up and even forget about the cold feet.

This thing is also very useful during work. Sometimes if I got a load of articles to write with a very short deadline I stressed out. And it would turn me into this Lady Gaga slash Sue Sylvester from Glee - which translate to: crazy b**ch with a really bad temperament (poor hubs).
But not with this Stress Relief on hand! I just apply it on the temple and the back of my hands, it would relax me a bit because this stress relieving blend of essential oil is packed with anxiolytic properties that has relaxing effect.

I say: thumbs up for this Stress Relief product. I never leave home without it now.

And as for the Peppermint Lip Balm, well what can I say? It's minty, it moisturize my lips and it's not greasy or leave residue on my lips. It's also contain No artificial fragrances or preservatives and Non-Toxic! So if you're looking for a good minty lip balm then this should be your choice.

Aside from the two items above they also have so many other great products there, they have products in gift sets too, so you can try many items at once or you could send it to someone you care about. Take a look at this Essential Wellness Kit for example:

This Essential Gift Set is a must have for any first aid kit. It includes a 10ml roll-on of HeadBalm, 5ml Cold & Sinus essential oil blend, a 5ml First Aid essential oil blend and a tube of Peppermint Lip Balm.

Aromatic Health have four line of products:
  • AROMATHERAPEUTIC: geared towards personal health and to aid in healing common ailments. (the Stress Relief I got is from this line)
  • MOTHER & CHILD: developed for mothers and their children, to aid with both pre and post childbirth.
  • SKIN CARE: designed to nourish, pamper and soothe your skin with all natural oils and herbs. (the Peppermint Lip Balm is from this line)
  • CUSTOM FORMULAS: these are made to target specific symptoms and ailments. (Note that products can be customized, as they are made as ordered, to suit your needs, ie. allergies to an oil.)

Their products are also cruelty free and do not contain synthetic fragrances, parabens, petrochemicals or preservatives. They also use a minimal amount of packaging and promote the recycling or the re-use of their jars and bottles. GREEN LIVING to the max!

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Aromatic Health will be available in Singapore SOON! Yeay! It would be closer to me if I need to buy another Stress Relief ;)

SWEET DEALS :
Right now there are some items that are ON SALE, such as this AntiBacterial Spray from their Aromatherapeutic line. It only cost $12.71 now!
Find other items that are also ON SALE on their website.

WIN! WIN! WIN!

BEAUTIES ON MY WALL ! (Wee Gallery review&giveaway)

Monday, May 17, 2010

Wee Gallery is about black and white geometric animal graphics.
It is a family-owned business. Dave and Surya, the owners, are a family with 2 children themselves. Based on their own experience with their baby they learned that newborns can only see 12 to 15 inches away and they are most taken with their parent's faces and black and white geometric figures. Experimenting with the latter idea, Wee Gallery was born.

Wee Gallery animals are designed to interest baby differently at different stages. At birth, babies are fascinated by the details of the design, and as they grow older they point the animals out by name. I also learned from their website that the high contrast visual patterns on the black and white Wee Gallery animal graphics actually could help promote infant brain development.

And that's what Wee Gallery does. Their animal graphics are made up of high-contrast repeating patterns to stimulate an infant's visual development. Their signature black and white geometric animal prints could be found on all their various products such as Art Cards for babies, Mobiles, Wall Graphics, Greetings, Wrapped Canvases, letterpress Prints and Twins Board Book!

Of all the products mentioned above I am very lucky to be able to try one of their Wall Graphics. I chose the Jungle Wall Graphic because I simply like the pattern and I love the fact that beside the signature black and white geometric animal graphics there are also a bunch of colorful graphics in the package.

This Jungle Wall Graphic set has a total of 75 individual decals in it, including one lion, three monkeys, one butterfly, and 70 various sized landscape pieces such as vines, leaves, flowers and bushes.

I really love the complete set. It gives you enough decals to plan the whole look on the wall. I had fun trying it on because it's removable so I don't have to be afraid of putting it in the wrong place and if I want to repositioned the decals on my wall space all I have to do is just peel it and stick it again. Easy peasy. Important fact: it didn't leave a mark on the wall when I repositioned some of the decals!

Putting the decals are also easy because they're self-adhesive. And they are made of eco-friendly polypropylene too. Hey, anything eco-friendly is thumbs up in my book!

I love the geometric pattern on the black and white animals, the animals comes in generous sizes too so there's no way to miss it. I also love the colorful landscape pieces that comes with the set. I really love the bright vivid colors on them because it makes them really pops out! Especially if you put them in a white wall. Gotta love it!

The detail of the black and white geometric patterned animal:

And the detail of the colorful decals:

Love Love Love Wee Gallery. They have other cute wall graphics sets and various other items too. All their wall graphics are $38 and there are 6 sets to choose from. They also has these cute art cards that comes in a cute box too! And if you have twins then you should consider the Twins board book, because it's just so cute! Just check out below pictures (the left one is the art cards & the right one is the twins board book):

Ain't they cute? ^o^
Anyway, now it's time for a GIVEAWAY!

Party Planner: Beach themed party

Saturday, May 15, 2010

This Sunday, May 16th is my hubby's Bday!
He's turning 32 so there's no reason to throw a birthday party anymore ;p But I still like to make one virtual bday party for him ^o^ I asked my hubby what would he like for the theme of his virtual imaginary party that would be part of my routine Imaginary Party Planner posts here in this blog, and he said "beach party. whatever" -- thanks honey, despite the lack of enthusiasm ;p
Anyway, beach party it is! ;)

I did these kind of posts because I love to imagine myself as a party planner, and I also hope that these imaginary party planner posts would somehow be useful for me as well as for you as inspirations for our own parties :) So, let's start, shall we?

I collected these pictures from various websites, all of the pics are linked to it's original source so if you want to know more about an item just click the pics and it will take you straightly to the web source.

THE INVITATION:

From the invitation people would know that it's a beach themed party.
For hubby's invitation I would order these with blue or green slippers photo instead of pink.

THE DECOR SETTING:
The beach birthday party will be held outdoor on the lawn.
I will put a long table right on the grass, more or less like this:

But unlike the pic above I will put a lot of chairs around the wooden table, chairs would be covered in sand-colored flowy fabric, adorned with this small sized shell wreath at the back of the chair.

A cute little tin used as a flower pot, held with colorful ribbons around the garden area.

Assorted flower strings to decorate the surroundings.

And a shell light string to set the ambiance.

Aside from the main long table & chair set, don't forget to also decor the other seating area with colorful pillows.

THE TABLE DECORATIONS:

Placecard holder so everyone knows where to sit.

Pretty flowers set in a deep blue glass as table decorations.

These light-house tealight holders are also for the main table decoration.

And here's the table cloth:

with matching napkins:

And plates:

All are from http://partybox.co.uk

The drinks are served in these starfish embossed tall glasses and shell coasters.

And this is the drink:

cooling sangria!

THE FOOD:
I think serving many kinds of finger food will be great for outdoor beach theme party, so it won't be too messy. Like these assorted finger sandwiches:

Salad and pita bread:

And this stuffed paprika:

And some cakes for dessert:

Aside from the main eating area there is also a side table that holds fresh cool softdrinks, cakes, cookies, and sweet stuffs. To bring out the theme I'd dress it up with raffia skirt like this:

What's on the top of the Luau style side table above:

Cute inflatable can cooler to keep the softdrinks cool.

And some food for the sweet tooth:

Guests can grab a pail of their own. This mini pail is filled with assorted bean candies!

Nowadays, it's all about pretty cupcakes!

Assorted cookies and cakes:

And THE CAKE:

No party would be complete without a cake!

And last but not least, the PARTY FAVOR BAGS:
This time it's different, everyone will take their own pail on the way out and then they will fill the pail with the assorted party favors that already served in the small table near the way out.
These are the mini pails that everyone will get:

Inside it is a thank you tags with beach themed graphics:

And then they can fill their pail with these favor bags on their own:

Sea creatures matches

Beach themed assorted lollipops.

ocean breeze candle in mini pail

shell soaps packed in clear plastic bag and a little bow.

And a special personalized unique plastic glass:

And now the party is over!
Did you have fun?
Would you come to my next party?
^0^
