Decorate your walls - Vinyl Attraction - CLOSED -

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I have been reading about wall decorations with lettering or abstract design on several blogs lately, and having a love for decoration I decide to try it out. Vinyl Attraction is one of the company that sells such wall decors and i think they have more variety and options than other companies alike. So when Vinyl Attraction agreed to do a giveaway as well as a review here on Tigerlily's Book I was ecstatic! Vinyl Attraction is a family-owned business that offers a range of wall decorations such as sticky art and vinyl lettering. Their designs and style are abundant and they have one for every room in the house from living room to laundry room.

What is Vinyl lettering? Vinyl lettering is pre-spaced, pre-pasted lettering that you easily install onto your wall or just about any surface. They transfer on easily in minutes and look like handpainting or stenciling. It's really great as additional decor on your wall so instead of having a plain dull wall now you can have a wall that "speaks" or a wall that "inspire". And you get that hand-painted look instantly.

Vinyl lettering and designs can be installed just about anywhere you want to put them. Painted walls, wood, furniture, ceramic tile, metal, glass, porcelain, painted brick, wallpaper, bathroom sinks, showers, doors, hardy plank, mail boxes, and much more. Even on the back of your car! And if incase you got bored you can easily remove them too, just peel it off your wall and you're done (read more info on their website before you remove it).

As i told you before Vinyl Attraction has many styles and designs to choose from. They have hundreds of fonts and designs and dozens of colors. Here's some examples from their collection:

Look, the vinyl could also be applied to a glass surface:

(purple ballerina)

See? they could liven up your room immediately. Guests would be ooh-ing and aah-ing when they looked at your walls. That's what happened to me. My mom came into my room and she compliment it so much she ends up asking me if she could get one too ;p I was sent a special set of three quotes that includes:

"Live Simply, Laugh Often, Love Deeply"
"Always Kiss me Goodnight"
"Home is where your story begins"

This is a specially priced set of three, it only costs $19.95 and if you want it you better hurry, because it's almost gone!

I showed it to hubby and he loved it. He love the concept and the easy do-it yourself application of the vinyl lettering. We tried it right away. We decide to put the "Always kiss me Goodnight" on our bedroom. Hubby is in charge of applying it to the wall while I'm in charge of supervising whether it's a bit lopsided or not ;p
Anyway, the set came with a wooden burnisher and a detailed instruction sheet (complete with pictures) so it's easy to follow the instructions. All you need is a masking tape and a measuring tape or level. Follow the easy instructions and tadaaa.... :

It's there on our bedroom wall! Hubby only needs less than half an hour to do this. And we're very happy with the result, it gives a new vibe to my wall. We love it!

We plan to apply the other two in our family room but the walls in there need some new paint first so we'll apply them after the wall has been re-painted. According to the website you need at least one month before you could apply it to new painted wall. It seems that we have to wait quite a long time but looking at how good the result of the first vinyl lettering on our bedroom wall we're willing to wait patiently :D

So if you need some new vibe on your wall or if you want to spruce up your decoration a little bit without spending much money then head on to Vinyl Attraction. They can do monograms too. And if you're looking for a more personalized ones then they would be happy to do custom design art or lettering for you. You can choose different font styles within a quote, and pair it with any art you choose.

SWEET DEALS:
  • They are now currently offering a 15% Discount OFF your entire order if you use their coupon code: "2010". This offer only valid until Feb 2nd so HURRY! HURRY!

[Imaginary] : B&B Owner

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

It's time for my big imagination to roam through this blog again ;p If you've read my first imaginary play or my last imaginary play post in this blog, you'll see that I love doing imaginary plays and one of my favourite imaginary play beside being a party planner is being someone whose in charge of house decorating. And so this time it will be about that.

Now let's play:

This time I pretend I'm an old lady probably in my 60s who own a Bed & Breakfast in the country side. I'm a cheerful and friendly grandma.
Now this is not your usual B & B, this is a bigger version of it, with 14 rooms to rent. Some of them en-suite and some of them share a bathroom in the hall. As the owner, I like to decorate the rooms to attract visitors, so I decided to furbish every room with a different decoration or theme.

The B&B consist of a main house where all the guest rooms are, a big garden on every side and at the back with patio and terraces. There's also a small cottage at the side of the garden which houses my staffs.

So first of all, let me introduce you to my staffs (who lives on the B&B) and our rooms. I tried to make my staffs feel comfortable and at-home so I decorate their bedrooms and shared bathroom as homey as possible:

Household:
Owner / Me
Tasks: Greet guests, check-in desk, oversee the whole shebangs, read reports, manage B&B.
Living quarter: 1st fl bedroom
(My room)
with my en-suite bathroom:

2 of my staffs stay at the main house:
1 Managerial Assistant - Janna, 31yr old

Tasks: Manage all daily reports, salary, administration, guests info desk, took over owner's job if owner's not around
Living quarter: Room in the attic
(Janna's Room) with shared staff bathroom

1 Maid - Penelope, 27yr old
Tasks: Change sheets, clean guests rooms, clean bathrooms, clean the whole house, attend to guests need, waitress during meal time.
Living quarter: Room in the attic
(Penelope's Room) with shared staff bathroom

Janna & Penelope's shared staff bathroom in the attic:

While 3 of my other staffs stay at the little cottage in the garden:
1 cook - Gemma, 40yr old
Tasks: Cook for guests during breakfast and dinner, cook for household, wash dishes, shop for groceries, collecting spices or veggies from the small kitchen garden
Living quarter: Cottage room
(Gemma's room) on the cottage with shared bathroom.

1 washer - Bernadette, 24yr old
Tasks: Wash guests sheets, wash household clothes, wash napkins etc, ironing, help waitressing and then wash the dishes during guests meal time
Living quarter: Cottage room
(Bernadette's room) on the cottage with shared bathroom.

1 gardener - Mr. Sutton, 45yr old
Tasks: Do all gardening including lawn, backyard and the kitchen garden, providing flowers every 2 - 3 days to be put in vases inside the house
Living quarter: Cottage room
(Mt. Sutton's room) in the cottage attic.

The shared staff bathroom in the cottage:

MulryJewels - Elegance, Fun & Sparkle - CLOSED -

Thursday, January 14, 2010

UPDATED with blog address and "Sweet Deals" offering 5% OFF any regular price item. Scroll down for details.

-------------------------------------------

A couple of weeks back I received another package from another fabulous etsy shop called MulryJewels. The owner, Stephanie is a young opera singer who creates enchanting pieces of jewelries as a way to support her competitive career. She has always loved making jewelry and has been getting a demand for it on her local Long Island and now she's making it available to the wide world via her etsy shop.

Stephanie sent me her Swarovski Rivoli necklace in Volcano. It is as pretty as what I see on the picture in her etsy shop. It came in a pretty little pink organza bag with ribbon drawstring, perfect for gift-giving. All MulryJewels come in this lovely packaging. And they are shipped in insulated envelopes to secure safe shipping.

The Swarovski Rivoli necklace I received is made of a genuine swarovski 14mm mesmerizing rivoli crystal. It reflects almost the whole spectrum of color and it is carefully set in a gold-plated setting, but you can order it in silver-plated, brass-plated or sterling silver chain if you want. The first thing I fall in love with is the pendant, the Rivoli pendant is so amazing if only you could see it with your own eyes. It may look like a brown-orange-ish color but if you angled it a little it'd change colors. I could see a green, yellow, red and purple on it! It's such a beauty, I tell you!

These pictures doesn't do it justice, it's much much more pretty in reality. I also love the simple design on her jewelries. The simple look makes it a lot more easier to pair it with any outfit. And I do get complimented a lot, people would like to have a closer look on the necklace every time I wore it, even hubby praise it's unique spectrum of color.

The only suggestion I have is regarding to my own experience because I know not all of you have an "acidic sweat" like me ;p There, I said it. I always thought that I have an acidic sweat because I sweat easily and every time I wear a jewelry around my neck it would change color almost immediately if it gets in touch with my sweat. And this does not happen to everyone, I once wear the same necklace with my cousin and we wear it at the same time. It was a cheap necklace and at the end of the day hers come out alright as if nothing ever happened while mine?Well, mine was worn-down on half day. So I think this is just my unique problem with necklaces but then I googled and found out that you could layer a clear nail polish on your plated jewelries to keep the color much longer. I will keep this in mind and I have also told Stephanie about this idea just incase one of her customer is having the same "acid sweat" problem like me :p And she agreed with it. I love working with her, she's a very nice lady whose really into her jewelries and her customers. But still, this doesn't' stop me from wearing the necklace because I'm still hooked on the pretty Rivoli pendant :D

Anyway, back to her store.

Don't you want one of those beauties? :) Lovely, aren't they? MulryJewels has jewelries ranging from necklaces, rings and earrings and currently her BIG HOLIDAY Sale is still going on! With her already affordable prices this Sale is not to be missed. Stephanie also uses Genuine Swarovski Crystal Beads for her jewelries so the quality is unquestionable.
