Pulse Yoga Review & Giveaway

Monday, December 14, 2009

I don't really like sports or work-out, except for YOGA. I've always love yoga! I took my first yoga class when I was in college and after that I just do yoga at home with the help of some yoga DVDs. I love doing yoga at home and I tried to get my family to do yoga too (well at least my brother is now a believer while hubby is still a bit hesitant). But with the pack of DVDs that I received from Pulse Yoga a couple of weeks ago I'm hoping that hubby will get to like yoga as well ;)

First of all, I love the concept of Pulse Yoga which combine basic yoga routines with free weights and micro-movements within yoga postures to define, sculpt and tone the upper body, abdominal and gluteus muscles.

Second of all, to know more about Pulse Yoga let's meet the founder Argie Tang and Co-founder Prisca Boris:
Argie
has taught over 15,000 yoga classes and has developed yoga programs for schools, corporations, hospitals and television. Argie became certified as a fitness instructor at The University of California, Los Angles and began applying yoga principles and postures to athletic training programs. She developed a fitness system called "Y4A" which she has taught to a range of athletes from the elite level Olympian to recreational weekend warrior.

While Prisca is an avid outdoorswoman, she began practicing yoga in 1993 to balance the effects of her rigorous sporting activities. In 1996, Prisca met Argie Tang and helped to launch the "Y4A" Fitness System. She conducts yoga classes in Vail and is an integral part of the Y4A Teacher Training Programs.

Now let's ask Argie Tang about Pulse Yoga:
Pulse Yoga is a result of my personal quest to find yoga routines that accomplish much more than other yoga styles. A few years ago I was diagnosed with osteopenia. The doctor told me that I needed to do some sort of weight training program. I have never really liked working out in a gym, always preferring yoga, so I decided to incorporate free weights into my yoga routines. As a woman in my 50's, I also wanted more toning, strengthening and increased muscle definition. So, in addition to the free weights, I added micro movements that primarily target areas such as the gluteus muscles, abdominals, upper arms and lower back. These micro movements within the yoga postures are highly effective with results that are noticeable immediately.

With that in mind, I can't wait to try my DVD set! I received a pack of 4 DVDs from Pulse Yoga:
Pulse Yoga I (Basic)
Pulse Yoga II (Balance&Tone)
Pulse Yoga III (Stamina&Strength)
Pulse Yoga Express

So far, I've tried the Pulse Yoga I and the Pulse Yoga Express. I thought I want to really master the Pulse Yoga Basic first before I went to Pulse Yoga II. I love incorporating free weights into yoga postures because it would just add more benefits to our body. I love the easy and clear instructions from Argie and if you're a beginner at yoga and couldn't follow Argie's move then you could just follow Prisca's move which is less rigorous, perfect for beginner. I also love the background which is a very pretty beach (Punta Minta if I was not mistaken). Most of the postures are quite easy too so my hubby who is a beginner at yoga could follow too.

The Pulse Yoga I is a 60-minute work-out video that incorporates Pilates, weight training and yoga to build strength, stamina and power. You will enjoy it just like I did and at the end you will be sweating and feels so healthy and recharged. I like doing it in the morning as well as in the afternoon.

The Pulse Yoga Express is a 30-minute version, the postures ranging from easy to quite challenging but not too hard. You will absolutely feel refreshed afterward, but it won't took your breath out like if you did aerobics. This is great if you only have 30 minutes to work-out. I can't wait to try Pulse Yoga II & III to complete my work-out. I watched Pulse Yoga II DVD and I can't wait to try the balance & tone postures. I'm planning to do it this Wednesday ^__^

So if you're looking for a combined sports that would benefit your body more than a regular work-out why don't you try out Pulse Yoga? It's a great new concept and according to Argie, it is possible to combine completely different exercise philosophies to get the most out of your workout. Pulse Yoga website also sell yoga outfits such as yoga pants, tanks, etc..

SWEET DEALS:
SAVE $9.98 if you purchase PULSE YOGA DVD SET (Includes 3 volumes from the Pulse Yoga Series).

And now to the GIVEAWAY!
Prisca from Pulse Yoga has kindly offer one of TB readers a Free Pulse Yoga II DVD. Balance in motion are emphasized here by connecting standing balancing postures in order to master control over the body in any position.
